Best Practices

Unless you are getting a clear tan, it's best practice to wear dark, loose clothing for after your tan. Pack an umbrella or towel if the forecast calls for rain. 

During your tan, wear what you are comfortable in. For woman- we offer disposable thongs and hair nets. Men- please wear a brief, boxers or small undergarment.

Please do not use OLAY, DOVE products prior to your tan, do not shave or shower the day of- or at least 4 hours prior. Shaving or showering right before your appointment can case a film to be left on the ski n, or alter your skin PH, therefore causing your tan to not develop as it should. 

Please always bring loose fitting clothes and a towel if its raining. 

Absolutely not. We select the very best solutions on the market. We have tested a variety from all over the world and are confident the solutions we use will provide guaranteed results (when adhering to our specific instructions). The solutions we use can be found on NYC Runways and  are used by celebrity Spray Tan artists. 

For all of our tans please do not use soap/body wash or wash your hair for the first rinse. Rinse with hands only, using lukewarm water. Pat dry. Do not shave for minimum of 24 hours. It is typical for  some of the bronzer to rinse off  in the shower, the color will continue to develop for 24 hours. 

Please always consult the rinse times with your artist and set an alarm on your phone to adhere: 

8-10 hour tan rinse:

8-10 hours 

Rapid Luxe rinse time:

1-2 hours light

2.5-3.5 medium

4-6 dark

The integrity of the tan is determined by how well you follow the pre and post care instructions.  We highly recommend you to use Hempz products and those that are free of mineral oil. Check out our retail products in the cottage. We have everything from tan remover/primers to extenders and luxurious self tan mousses.  Our tans last anywhere from 7- 10 days and up to two weeks if the tan extender is used. We  recommend that removal of an existing tan will ensure an even and long lasting application. 

After your first rinse, we recommend that no lotion is used for 24 hours. When you are taking your first rinse, this means do not wash your hair, do not use any products other than your hand and water. After you rinse, blot dry. 

For those with aging skin, extremely dry skin- you may use lotion sooner. 

Avoid shaving for 24 hours after your tan. 

After 24 hours twice a day application of hydrating lotion is key to ensure a long lasting tan. Hydrating your body with plenty of water helps also. Hydration starts within. 

In rare occasions we see that hormones along with extreme stress can cause a tan to fade quickly or not develop proper.
